5 Ways I'm Fighting 4 P.M. Corpse Face
Dunno about your face, but right around 4 p.m. every workday, mine transforms into something horrifying.
The bright-eyed, marginally glowing person who strolled into work that morning is gone. She's been replaced with a goddamn mess of snarled hair, washed-out skin, and bloodshot, dry eyes that would make Ben Stein do a double take.
In so many words, I look extra dead, because the dreaded condition I've named "corpse face" gradually has zapped what little vivacity I scraped together eight-ish hours ago. It's a curse, but I've learned a few tricks and found a few go-to products for fighting the ghastly vibes. Look alive, people -- here they are.
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist
Here's the thing: I'm not gonna do a full-blown makeup reset this late in the day, so quenching dry skin is the name of the game. I wanna look good while yelling at idiot drivers on my commute home. This mist is my first step. It smells like a rosemary bush and works as a quick refresh on a tired face.
Origins Peace of Mind On-The-Spot
Okay, so at 4 p.m., I'm likely trying to wrap up a ton of projects, prep for a late-day meeting, or just now remembering that I promised I'd go to happy hour. Time to huff some of this peppermint concoction from Origins. The itty bitty bottle recommends that you massage it behind your ears, but I like to take some in my hands, rub 'em together, and take a few deep breaths.
Glossier Balm Dotcom
By this point in the day, my lips are devoid of any pinkish hue. Enter this all-purpose balm from Glossier with a red tint and a nostalgia-inducing medicinal cherry scent. A quick dab on the lips is key when attempting to look less dead. And if I'm desperate (which, probably!), I'll blend a smidge into my cheeks.
Milk Makeup Cooling Water
Name sounds way grosser than what this purse-friendly product is and does. The icy blue gel stick combines aloe, caffeine, and seawater in a twist-up tube to combat puffiness and a lackluster complexion. Swipe it over the under-eye bags that have somehow made a raging, puffy comeback. And, sweet tip: It'll help even out any concealer that's settled into creases.
Opcon-A Eye Drops
I have allergies. I stare at a computer all day. I test out more eye creams than most humans should. Which is why this tall bottle of Opcon-A eye drops is always with me. It stings for a sec, but the payoff in clear and itch-free eyes is legit. Note: You can't use these when you're wearing contacts. But Blink makes a great, hydrating eye drop for soft lenses.
